STARS
Stars occur when tiny fibrous crystals, such as rutile, attatch along the outside faces of a host crystal, which repeatedly grows over them, until they're throughout the stones interior. Because the crystal faces are symetric, Rutiles deposited on opposite sides have the same orientation, and when seen through a domed polish will sparkle together. So 6 sided crystals, (including Quartz and Sapphire,) will have 3 intersecting lines, forming a 6 Ray Star. An additional type of inclusion settling in at another angle, occasionly creates 12 Ray Sapphires. Twinned crystals can have two distinct stars beside each other. Sometimes Quartz will show Star after Star as you turn it, I think these grew as floaters [unattatched], and so accumalated Rutiles on all [~18] sides evenly.
